Jan's Buddy Seat
Last Friday, December 3rd, we had the honour of unveiling Jan's Buddy Seat in memory of Jan Riches who was a staff member and friend at St. Pat’s for many years. This was done in the presence of Jan's family and the classes of Jan's great grandchildren. The seat is there to support students whenever they feel sad or lonely because Jan would be a friend to anybody who needed one. We hope all students will get lots of use out of it. This idea came from one of Jan's great grandaughter's, Madi Lucas, who is a student in grade 4 this year at St. Patrick's. We have already had some students and staff have a sit on the seat to try it out, enjoying the view and others because they are looking for someone to play with. Jan's buddy seat is located near Jayke's Garden in the playground.

Move Up Day

Tomorrow Tuesday 7th December is Move Up Day. Please see the attached class lists for 2022
Staff have put a lot of time, effort and thought into the construction of these lists. Your influence is enormous on your children’s attitudes and therefore children take cues from your reactions, so please be positive about your child’s grade for next year and to talk about the positive aspects of being in a new grade; new friendships, new teacher, new methods of learning, new challenges, improving resilience. Decisions are based around many factors; academic, behavioral, emotional, friendship, but all to do with creating the best learning environment we can for your child. At the end of the day we do still reserve the right to make changes if we feel it is in the best interests of all concerned.
Closing School Mass

The end of year closing school mass will be held on Thursday 16th of December at 9:30am. Staff and students will attend this mass and parents and friends are welcome to view the mass online through the St Patrick’s Catholic Church Camperdown YouTube channel.
Last Day for Students
The last day for students is Thursday 16th December, and ends at 2.15pm. Arrangements are as normal just an hour earlier.
Students who travel by bus will be dismissed and go to the bus stop at 2.05pm.
Students who are normally collected from the Church will walk down with staff between 2.05-2.15pm.
All other students will be dismissed at 2.15pm.
Student Leadership Positions
Student school Leadership interviews for Grade 5 children were conducted last Tuesday, 30th November, with Mr Sinnott, Mr Kingston and Mrs Judd. There was a terrific field of children who presented themselves in an exemplery manner to the panel. Leadership positions for next year will be announced at next Monday's (December 13) Grade 5 leadership day with a note to go home to families.
Catholic School Culture

Catholic School Culture
Catholic School Culture
This week is the second week of Advent where we light the first two candles on our Advent wreath and focus on hope. We prepare to seek forgiveness and reflect on our calling to live as children of God. We hope to change our ways so that we are good examples of people who love and follow the Lord. Let us seek peace in our minds and in our world.
Dressage Competition
Tyra Sambell competed in the Preliminary dressage competition in Hamilton last Saturday, representing St Patrick's School and was the only grade 5 rider from us, she placed 2nd out of 9 riders in her rider class, won the show jumping equitation and placed 5th overall in the grade 5-6 section out of 11-12 riders and getting 10/10 for rider and horse presentation. This is Tyra's first time competing for the school in the equestrian side of sport and is keen to represent the school again in up and coming competitions and hopes there is some other riders in the school who could join her and make a team at the next one.
