The Season of Lent

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
We are looking forward to our Parent/Teacher interviews as they present an opportunity for information sharing on the learning and also another opportunity to reengage families in the life of the school. We are seeking out any opportunity we can to enable parents to be engaged in their children's learning. One way is to issue an open invitation for parents to come into the school when they have an opportunity to see where their children are learning and make contact with their teacher.
Cleaning Position

We are looking for a cleaner at our school.
The position is for 4 hours on a Monday from 2pm - 6pm.
Please call the office on 55931962 if you or anyone you know are interested in this position.
Foundation students
This Wednesday March 1st, is the first Wednesday our Foundation students will be attending school. From now on our preppies will be attending school 5 days a week.
Swimming Carnival 3 to 6

Our swimming carnival was held today and the children had a wonderful day competing and having fun. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend on the day and especially the Grade 4 parents who helped with the BBQ and the rest of the catering on the day.
Well done Mr Harkin for a beautifully smooth program and a very well planned and conducted day. Thank you to the staff for all your work on the day.
The results on the day were:-|
1st Nazareth
2nd Lourdes
3rd Fatima
4th Mercy
For those selected, Division swimming will be this Thursday the 2nd of March.

Portsea camp Gr 5

This Wednesday the Grade 5 students will be travelling to Portsea for a three-day camp returning Friday afternoon. We are looking forward to this learning opportunity and a chance for some fun and friendship.
Parent/Teacher Interviews

We are conducting Parent/Teacher interviews on the 7th, 8th or 9th of March. Parents are asked to log into PAM as soon as possible to book a time when their teacher is available to have a brief, 10 minute discussion about each student. We look forward to this opportunity to support your child's learning. We require every family to meet face-to-face with their teacher so if you are unable to make the available times, please contact your teacher for an alternative date.
NAPLAN

NAPLAN assessments will be conducted from Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March. The following article contains information for parents for 2023
PAM Information Updates
We are asking all parents to log in to PAM and update each childs connect fields.

Sacramental Program
If you are yet to return your enrolment form for our Sacrament Program please complete these online or call the office to request a paper version be sent home.
Lent
During the Lenten season we continue to emphasise self-reflection, simplicity and sincerity (honesty) as we take up the practices of Lent;
- Prayer (justice towards God)
- Fasting (justice towards ourselves)
- Almsgiving (justice towards neighbours).
Our school celebrated Shrove Tuesday by cooking pancakes. Many of our classes paired up with their buddy class and cooked some delicious pancakes. On Wednesday, we had a whole school Ash Wednesday Mass where our children received the cross of ashes on their foreheads. Due to our foundation children being away on Wednesday, they held a Liturgy on Thursday and received the cross of ashes on their forehead.

Mass of the Oils 2023
The Mass of the Oils will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at St Patrick’s Cathedral Ballarat at 6:30pm. Supper will follow in the Hall.
Project Compassion
We connect social justice to our faith when we raise vital funds for the most vulnerable people facing poverty and injustice in our world. Our donations can bring food to families, help educate children and provide resources such as vegetable seeds and chooks to grow, sell and earn money. There is less loose change at school these days due to online canteen ordering, please consider taking compassionate action by sending in loose coins or monetary donations to the Project Compassion boxes. Alternatively, you may wish to donate on the Project Compassion website. Your assistance is appreciated and together we can make a difference.
