COMMUNITY EVENTS
Universal Children’s Day, Nov 20th

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
We are over the half way mark of the term and beginning to plan for the end of the school year. It is important to celebrate the achievements of the year and enjoy the opportunity to reflect on having a full, uninterrupted year of onsite school after the previous few years.
Transport changes

We are introducing a new format for Transport changes ( to alter your child's movements) you will be able to advise us using the TRANSPORT CHANGES TILE on the schoolzine app, fill in the form below or follow the link on our WEB page in School Information-Forms and Documents.
Please note that submissions via the app close at 2.00pm each day.

SAC Expressions of Interest

We have two members ending their term on our School Advisory Council and we are seeking expressions of interest for parents to nominate for one of these positions. The SAC provide a vital link between the school and our community as we discuss immediate initiatives and long-term goals for St Patrick's. We hold two evening meetings per term and those involved find it a valuable way to contribute to the ongoing growth of the school. Please contact Tim if this might be you!

MSP Photography Group Photos

MSP has recently returned to the school to take sporting group photos. If your child participated in this, a letter will be sent home with information on how to order their group photos.
Grade 3 Camp
Our Grade 3 students will be heading off to Camp Cooriemungle for an overnight camp on Wednesday the 23rd of November, returning Thursday 24th of November. We wish them well and hope they have a wonderful camp.
Grade 2 Excursion
Our Grade 2 students will be heading to Yeodene for an excursion on Friday 25th of November. They will spend the day exploring the ziplines and high rope challenges before returning to school in the afternoon.
Community Meal 5/6W

5/6W will be participating in the next community meal on Wednesday 23rd of November.
School Reports

With our first full school year of onsite learning since 2019, we are now returning to our full report for semester 2. The process to generate these has begun and teachers are endeavouring to provide clear information on the progress and growth of each child in their care.
We will not be conducting a full Parent/Teacher interview opportunity to speak about these reports this term. Teachers will have spoken to any parents of children with particular concerns before the reports are issued and parents are always welcome to make an appointment throughout the year to discuss these matters with their child's teacher. We are hoping to offer an opportunity to sit early next year with your child's teacher to provide us with a clear picture of your child's needs and to set some goals for the 2023 school year.

Student Appearance
We have noticed a deterioration in the appearance of some of our students. Can we ask parents to please monitor:-
- The wearing of correct uniform.
- Simple stud or sleeper earrings without dangling parts that may cause injury.
- Hair length. Students with hair to their shoulders are asked to please wear their hair tied back to limit the ever present risk of head lice. This applies to our girls and boys. Can the parents of boys with the flowing mullets please have a conversation with their child about either cutting their hair or wearing it tied up each day. Thank you
Rising COVID Cases

The Department of Health has reached out to DOBCEL schools to indicate that they are seeing rising trends in presentations of COVID cases across the health systems.
Members of our school communities are reminded that if you are experiencing symptoms to please stay home. We will continue to encourage students to optimise social distancing when possible and practice good hand hygiene. Additional RAT tests are available on request and we encourage anyone who would like to wear a mask to do so, to continue to support the medically vulnerable.
Classroom Grouping for 2023

It is now the time of year when we begin the process of creating our classroom groupings for next year. This is a complex task that requires the input from many people and the consideration of a large number of contributing factors to determine the best groupings. One vital part of this process is to hear from parents who have a particular suggestion to support their child's success in 2023. I invite parents to email the their request to principal@spcamperdown.catholic.edu.au
The following are criteria that may be used to help with this decision:-
- Particular learning needs your child may have
- Sibling groupings
- Social/emotional support required
- Continued support for any learning challenges
The following are criteria that may NOT be used to help with this decision:-
- A request for a particular teacher or a request not to have a particular teacher
I have full confidence in each staff member in our school to deliver our curriculum and support the learning of every child in the school. Please understand that parental views will be taken into consideration when preparing the class lists, however staff decisions based on the interests of all children and the need for well-balanced classes, will take precedence.
Move Up Day

Our next transition opportunity will be our "Move Up" day on Tuesday 6th of December. On this day, our new foundation students will visit. Each class will move to their 2023 groups and our Grade 6 children will attend their new secondary school.

Remembrance Day
The school captains and vice captains were honored to read poems and lay the wreath at the Remembrance Day Service at the War Memorial in Camperdown. The Camperdown RSL prepared a fitting service to honor the great men and women who have served our Nation through duty, bravery and sacrifice. SRC representatives did a wonderful job leading the Remembrance Day Service at school. All of the grade 5/6 children created a poppy display for the foyer window with every child in the school having their name written on a poppy. We are grateful for those who sacrificed so much for the freedoms that we have today and pray that they can now rest in peace. Lest we forget.

Friday Mass
This Friday grade 1M & grade 3/4L will attend mass with Fr. Neville at 9:30am.
Mini Vinnies Christmas Cards

The Mini Vinnies volunteers will be making Christmas cards to assist St Vincent de Paul recipients at Christmas time. They will use the Fruits of the Holy Spirit as inspiration to bring joy and peace to others.
