Our Prayer for all VCE Students

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
We are all enjoying the sunshine and the opportunity to take our breaks outside with this period of finer weather. This week all classes will be conducting assessments to gather information on student learning and growth. We make this as inconspicuous as possible so as to not raise fears and concerns in the children. It is just described as a way for them to show all their great learning and to celebrate their successes. This data becomes one of the factors used to formulate our school reports at the end of this term.
Traineeship for 2023

We are delighted to announce that Eliza Fleming has been appointed to the traineeship position at St Patrick's for 2023. Eliza is currently completing her VCE at Mercy Regional College and will commence with us later this year to become familiar with the role. We welcome her to our school family and wish her every success for the year.
Transport changes

We are introducing a new format for Transport changes, you will be able to advise us using the TRANSPORT CHANGES TILE on the school zine app, fill in the form below or follow the link on our WEB page in School Information-Forms and Documents.
Please note that submissions via the app close at 2.00pm each day.

Foundation 2023 Interviews

Interviews for our 2023 Foundation children will be held today, November 7th & tomorrow November 8th. We look forward to meeting our new foundation children and their parents.
Classroom Grouping for 2023

It is now the time of year when we begin the process of creating our classroom groupings for next year. This is a complex task that requires the input from many people and the consideration of a large number of contributing factors to determine the best groupings. One vital part of this process is to hear from parents who have a particular suggestion to support their child's success in 2023. I invite parents to email the their request to principal@spcamperdown.catholic.edu.au
The following are criteria that may be used to help with this decision:-
- Particular learning needs your child may have
- Sibling groupings
- Social/emotional support required
- Continued support for any learning challenges
The following are criteria that may NOT be used to help with this decision:-
- A request for a particular teacher or a request not to have a particular teacher
I have full confidence in each staff member in our school to deliver our curriculum and support the learning of every child in the school. Please understand that parental views will be taken into consideration when preparing the class lists, however staff decisions based on the interests of all children and the need for well-balanced classes, will take precedence.
Transition morning

Thursday November 10th, is our morning to welcome our 2023 Foundation children to our school. Children will come to school from 9.00am - 12.00pm, parents are invited to attend a short meeting from 12.00 with teachers and Principal, Tim Bourke.
Remembrance Day

Friday November 11 is Remembrance Day, our chance to remember and say thank you to all who have served for our country. The school captains will join the service at the town memorial, with all other children participating in a service here at school.
Remembrance Day merchandise is available to purchase at school.
Grant Success
We are lucky to have secured a grant for $25,000 from the "Sunshades" grants opportunity that can be used for a variety of different purposes around the school. We will use this money to place new pads on all our posts to ensure student safety with playground and building posts.
The second half of the money will be used to create a sustainability and environment area on the wall outside the north wing of the school.
Catholic School Culture

Mission Month
October is Mission Month where we raise money to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children in poverty around the world. The Mission boxes are in classrooms ready for collection, so please consider sending any loose change into school for the Missions. Our loose change can make a world of difference. Many thanks.
Friday Mass
There will be no Friday masses over the coming weeks. Friday masses will resume in November.
All Saints Day

Tuesday is All Saints Day, dedicated to the Saints of the Church, that is all those who have attained heaven. Although millions, or even billions of people may already be Saints, All Saints Day observances tend to focus on known saints - that is those recognised in the Canon of Saints by the Catholic Church.
Dear God,
They left their mark on the earth for you, for us, for our children to come. Thank you God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us. Bless the memories of your saints, God. May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love.
Amen.
All Souls Day
All Souls Day on Wednesday is the commemoration of all the faithful departed and is dedicated to those who have died and perhaps not yet reached heaven. We remember deceased friends and relatives in various ways on this day. Some people may light candles or visit a church or cemetery to pray for the holy souls in purgatory.
