Our Prayer This Week

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
We have reached the final week of Term 3 and school will end at 2:15pm this Friday. The children and staff are looking forward to the school holidays to rest and refresh before returning for Term 4 on Monday the 3rd of October. The federal government announcement of a public holiday for Queen Elizabeth on the 22nd of September has no impact on school as it is in the middle of the term break. It does give some families the opportunity to combine it with the AFL grand final public holiday to make a four day long weekend to share some time together. We look forward to hearing stories of the children's holidays adventures when they return.

Fun Day

This Thursday the 15th of September, the Senior students will be conducting our "Fun Day" activities. Students from the other classes will bring along some coins to pay for the activities and games organised by our Grade 5 and 6 students. This is the second last day of term so we will have a Footy Colours Day on this day as well to mark the end of the AFL season on the school holidays. In previous years money raised on this day supplemented the cost of the Grade 6 Canberra Camp. With our change of venue, the cost of the camp is significantly reduced and the money will now be donated to the missions.
COVID Update

Report your result and isolate for at least 5 days.
If you tested positive using a rapid antigen test, you must report your result to the Department of Health online, or by calling 1800 675 398. You don’t need to report your result if you tested positive from a PCR test. Your isolation period begins on the day you took your positive test. How long your isolation period goes for depends on whether you have symptoms, which include a fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you must isolate for at least 5 days from the date you took your rapid antigen test or PCR test. For example, if you took your test on Monday, you can leave isolation on Saturday if you have no symptoms. You must isolate whether you have COVID-19 symptoms or not.
When you may leave isolation.
If you are in your 6th day of isolation and you have symptoms – no matter how mild – then you must continue to isolate. If you have a sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath, you may still be infectious and you may infect others with COVID-19.
If you have no symptoms on the 6th day of isolation, you are free to leave isolation on that same day. You do not need to take a test to leave isolation. For example, if you tested positive on a Monday, you may leave isolation any time the following Saturday.
If you are in your 7th day of isolation and you have symptoms – no matter how mild – then you must continue to isolate. If you have a sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath, you may still be infectious and you may infect others with COVID-19.
If you have no symptoms on the 7th day you are free to leave isolation on that same day. You do not need to take a test to leave isolation. For example, if you tested positive on a Monday, you can leave isolation any time the following Sunday.
If you leave isolation after 5 days, there are important rules you must follow for those two days:
- you cannot visit a hospital or aged care facility
- you cannot attend work at a hospital, residential aged care facility, disability care facility and in-home care premises (including disability and aged care in the home).

Vale Queen Elizabeth

After the news of her death last Friday morning, the school captains helped lower the school flags to half mast in recognition of the life and service of Queen Elizabeth. The flags will stay this way until the period of mourning is over.
AFL 9s

Two teams of Grade 4 students will be competing at the AFL 9's Day in Noorat this Wednesday the 14th of September. We wish them luck for a great day of fun and competition.
MRC Discovery Days

The Grade 6 students attending Mercy Regional College next year had the opportunity to visit the Noorat campus today to continue our transition process. We hope they found the day informative and useful in settling the transition nerves.
Our Grade 5 students had a great day at the Noorat campus of Mercy Regional College last Thursday and enjoyed the PE and visual art activities.

Grade 1 Excursion

Our Grade 1 students will be going on an excursion to the Cudgee Wildlife Park on Wednesday 14th of September. The children will leave from St Patrick's after the morning bell and return to school in the afternoon, before the final bell sounds. Please give your permission on PAM.
Production Update

We are continuing rehearsal for our school production and the show is progressing very well. We have added an additional date of Wednesday 12th of October at 7pm to help cover the demand for tickets. The original sessions were planned for Tuesday 11th of October at 12pm and 7pm in the church. Tickets will be made available shortly via Eventbrite. There is no cost to attend.
Our survey has revealed that many families are after a large number of tickets so we have had to make the following decisions:-
- When ticket sales are open, we will limit the purchase amount to 4 tickets per family
- After a certain date, when all families have had an opportunity to access tickets, the final available seats will be released for those needing more than four
- All preschool children will not need a seated ticket as they can sit on a lap
- St Patrick's students in the performance will not need a ticket
Summer Uniform and Hats

With the promise of warmer weather next term students are invited to wear their summer uniform if it is warm enough to do so. Our school hats will be needed from day 1 of term as, even today was above 3.5 on the UV despite the cold weather and overcast skys.
Bus Travel

We have had communication from our bus coordinators that the behaviour of St Patrick's children on our school bus runs has deteriorated and that there are now safety concerns for the children who travel on this service. We will speak to the children here at school and we ask parents to have a conversation with their children as to how they are behaving on their bus run.
PAM Connect

We have a new field on PAM called simon connect. Documents and or questions will be added to this field that require parents to confirm and give permissions. The document and questions will show in PAM as incomplete Connect Fields, this will not go away until you have reviewed the document and or answered any outstanding questions.
If you haven't already done so please click on the incomplete symbol if one appears and review your childs/rens local excursions agreement.
Catholic School Culture

Mini Vinnies
The Mini Vinnies volunteers will be attending mass on Friday with Fr. Neville at 9:30am. Then at 11:30am, these children will be walking to the St. Vincent de Paul Centre for a guided tour to learn more about the good works of the volunteers, helping people in need. The children are very much looking forward to this local excursion.
END OF TERM PRAYER
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith.
Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us,
to give time and effort to help others, to be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.
Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.
We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen

Spelling Championships
