From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,

On Friday we had a wonderful opportunity to share a Grandparents day celebration for the children in our Foundation classrooms. We had a large turn out at Mass and then our grandparents returned to school for a learning activity and a delicious morning tea. Thank you to Mick, Pru and Robyn for organising this fantastic opportunity.

Crazy Hair Day

The School Representative Council (SRC) have asked for a crazy hair day this Friday the 5th of August for no other reason than to have some fun. This is not a fundraiser so no gold coin is needed. So get out the gel, hair ties, wigs etc. to make your hair as interesting as possible.

COVID Support Needed

With ever increasing numbers of infections in the school, we are seeking the support of families with the usual precautions.

  • Monitor for symptoms
  • Inform the school immediately of positive cases & close contacts
  • Test your child twice a week
  • Encourage mask wearing

We have sent home our final, whole school, batch of RAT tests to each household. From now families will need to request additional tests from the school office when their supplies have run out.

Grandparents Mass

The Foundation Grandparents Mass on Friday was a wonderful celebration. The grandparents enjoyed attending mass with their grandchildren and then coming back to school for activities in the classroom and a scrumptious morning tea. Thank-you to all grandparents who made the effort to come along and particularly to some who traveled distances to be here (including from Adelaide). The children really enjoyed their special visitors.

Grade 5/6 Parish Mass

The grade 5/6 Parish Mass is this Sunday 7th of August. This mass will be led by the grade 5/6 children and families are invited and encouraged to attend.  An invite has gone out to the grade 5/6 families and replies are due today so jobs can be allocated to the children who are attending. The whole school community is very welcome to attend at 11am at St. Patrick’s Church on Sunday morning.

Friday Mass

This Friday 3/4C & 3/4D will attend mass with Fr. Neville at 9:30am.

Mini Vinnies - Food Drive

This term the Mini Vinnies children will carry out a Food Drive, collecting non-perishable food items for St. Vincent de Paul. The volunteers will collect these items from the children’s classrooms so please send in donations if you are able to. These items include canned and packet soup, canned fruits and vegetables, canned fish and poultry, rice, pasta, tea, coffee, dried fruits and vegetables, pasta sauce, nuts, long life milk etc.

Book Week

Heads up for a dress up!!

Monday August 22nd is Book Week Activity Day at St Pats!

Once again we are excited to share the love and enjoyment of reading by celebrating Book Week. Children are invited to dress up as a favourite book character or the theme of "Dreaming with eyes open". We encourage all students to participate in this day, and from our experience some of the best costumes come from our own, or someone else's wardrobes.

We will also be holding our Great Book Swap on the same day.  Donated pre-loved books can be bought by students with a gold coin. Funds from this day are passed on to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation for the production and purchase of culturally meaningful books for Indigenous children and communities. Last year our school community was pleased to donate over $700 - thank you. If you have any children's books that are in good condition that could be donated, please send them to school before August 22.

Production Update

Preparations for our 2022 school production are going very well with dancing practice and rehearsing of speaking roles happening all over the school. We have set the performance date for Wednesday the 7th of September in St Patrick's church. Tickets will be made available closer to the event.

Circuit Breaker Long Weekend

In recognition of the enormous increase in workload on teachers, the impact on students and the increases of flu infection in schools, DOBCEL have authorised a "Circuit Breaker long weekend" from the 12th to the 15th of August. This will give the entire school community a four-day break in the middle of this term.

School Closure Day

Our next opportunity to continue the professional development of staff will be on Friday the 26th of August. This will be a school closure day with no classes for students.

Parents and Friends Meeting

Our next P&F meeting will take place on Tuesday 9th of August at 7:30pm in the school staffroom.

Enrolments Open

We have opened our enrolments for the 2023 school year. New and existing families are invited to obtain an enrolment form from the school office or kindergartens to indicate your intention to send your children to St Patrick's next year.  Tours can be booked by calling the office. Enrolment forms are due in by the end of July.
