Our Prayer

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
What a wonderful opportunity last Friday was to recognise how special our mums are, to invite parents back into our school building and for me to meet and chat with many families face to face. Thank you to our staff who worked hard and gave their time to made it such a special event. We hope all our mums had a special day Sunday and enjoyed the gifts purchased for them at our Mother's day stall. Thank you to the parents who spent Thursday and Friday organising and selling the gifts.

DOBCEL Board Members Visit

We are to have a visit today from two members of the DOBCEL board to St Patrick's to view the school and discuss how we are managing in the current circumstances. We look forward to sharing the challenges and successes we are experiencing with our governing authority.
Interschool Sport

Division Athletics
The Division athletics carnival was postponed on Friday due to inclement weather and will be held today at Breauranda Park in Warrnambool. Good luck to all our athletes who are representing our school today.
District Cross Country
A team of 44 students travelled to Noorat on Tuesday to particpate in the Interschool Cross Country. The course, along gravel tracks and across sections of the Noorat Showgrounds proved challenging in windy conditions however all students did their very best and represented our school well.
Overall we came third as a school, St. Thomas' second and Timboon taking out the win.
Students who finished in the Top 12 in their age groups included Sarah Bridges 9th, Katerina Guinea 11th, Gus Fryers 1st, Sam Blain 7th, Cooper Doolan 8th, Ethan Shadforth 12th, Maddi Mitchell 2nd, Maddi Lucas 3rd, Isaac Lawlor 3rd, Jimmy Cheeseman 4th, Stella Hinds 3rd, Edie Molan 5th, Abby Sinnott 6th, Steph Fleming 7th, Sienna Anderson 8th, Harry Sinnott 2nd and Essi Myers 9th.
Our students support for each other was lovely to watch, they stood together cheering and encouraging each other; they even buddied up ensuring that someone not racing met the competitor on the track with their drink bottle so that they could have a quick drink on the run.
We wish those listed below the best of luck at the next stage which will be held in a few weeks time.

Thank-you to all junior families who have replied and the children have now been allocated their jobs. All families and friends are welcome to attend and we hope to see many of you there.

Fatima Feast Day
On Friday 13th of May, children in Fatima House (green) will celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal in 1917. Appearing to the children, She told them that She had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman and child. At the time, civilization was torn by war and violence and She promised that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if her prayer requests were heard. Children in Fatima House will receive an icy pole and a small packet of chips on Friday to celebrate this feast day.

Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima
Queen of the most holy rosary who deigned to come to Fatima to reveal a treasury of graces. You were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you to inspire in our hearts a love for the recitation of the rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein, may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen

First Holy Eucharist
Preparations for the Sacrament of First Holy Eucharist will begin soon. Families of children making this sacrament will need to decide the date and place of the mass that they will be attending. This will be either Saturday 16th of July at 6:30pm in Cobden at St Brendan’s Church or Sunday 17th of July at 11am in Camperdown at St Patrick’s Church. Home preparations and a note will be coming home soon.

I can Program

I CAN Imagination Club: Information Night & student enrolment link
The ‘I CAN Imagination Club’ information night has been confirmed for next Monday May 16 with founder Chris Varney and other I CAN Network personnel in attendance. We are hosting this night in conjunction with Mercy Regional College in order for families from both schools to access this event. Our information night will commence @7:30pm in the St. Patrick’s School library.
The I Can Imagination Club Program is a program for students who are either on the autism spectrum, have learning differences or experience social anxieties or lack of social confidence. The beauty of this program is that it can be used by the school to engage a broad range of students that require some extra social skills assistance. Classroom teachers of grades 1-6 students who they believe would benefit from participating in this program have been contacted last week or will do this week. In the past parents and caregivers have taken advantage of this opportunity to hear firsthand what the ‘I CAN Imagination Club’ can offer for their children so we encourage you to attend the information night.
Student enrolments are to be completed online by parents and caregivers by using the following link. https://tinyurl.com/SW-
The St. Patrick’s School starting date for the ‘I CAN Imagination Club’ student sessions is Monday May 23. They will be held weekly for 15 weeks through terms 2-4, in grade 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 cohorts with Tim Bourke or Annie Judd attending in a supervisory role.
