The Great Book Swap

The Great Book Swap day will be this Thursday 4th November
St Patrick’s School Camperdown is excited to participate in the 2021 Great Book Swap to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We see this event as an important addition to our social justice program in providing equity of opportunity for all.
The indigenous Literacy Foundation hopes to raise $350,000 to gift over 35,000 culturally relevant books to children living in remote communities in 2021.
To be a part of this we are asking families to donate favourite books in good condition. These books will be sold at our Great Book Swap during Book day this Thursday 4th November. On Thursday children will bring gold coins to purchase other books for either $1 or $2 to take home. The funds collected on the day will be forwarded to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The fundraising page also allows anyone to make an online donation to St Pats Great Book Swap. Follow this link to donate or find out more about the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

School Advisory Council vacancy
The School Advisory Council provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where the
parent/guardian voice and perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by
the principal and parish priest for the good of school and parish where the wellbeing and outcomes
for students is paramount.
It is important that School Advisory Council members understand that their primary role is to
provide support and advice on important school matters to support the principal in the context of
the DOBCEL governance arrangements. School Advisory Councils do not have a legal identity and do not become involved in the day-to-day management of the school. The School Advisory Council must act within the parameters of these Terms of Reference.
We have one School Advisory Council position that will become vacant at the end of the year. If you would like to join our school council, please complete the form below.

Catholic School Culture

All Saint’s Day
Today we acknowledge All Saint’s Day where we remember the saints throughout our Christian history. Some of these are people that we have learnt about at school such as St. Patrick, St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Saint Teresa. Others we have learnt about when we made the Sacrament of Confirmation and chosen a saint that we identified with. Saints have shown dedication, faith and an exceptional degree of holiness.
Yesterday was All Souls Day where we remembered people in our own lives who have died and we celebrated the impact that they had on us. We remember our relationships, shared love, happy memories and we acknowledge the difference they made to our lives. They may also have shared some similar qualities to the saints that we remember today.
Covid Safe School Procedures
Covid Safe School Procedures
Staff and grades 3 to 6 students to wear face masks when indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies.
- Masks are required for Grades 3-12 students on the bus.
- The schoolzine app, WEB page & emails are our main form of communication. If you haven't been receiving any emails or texts, please contact the school to double check your email address and phone number.
- Visitors are welcome back to the school in line with vaccination requirements.
- School excursions and camps can resume.
- Please keep children home if they are not well.
- Extra ventilation in classrooms by windows and doors being left open. Spending time outdoors more throughout the day.
- Please ensure your child brings their own drink bottle to school. Bubble taps have been turned off however taps for refilling are available.
eSAFETY
With lockdowns and restrictions many children are spending more time online and watching streamed television shows and movies. It’s more important than ever to have conversations with your child about what they are watching online and the games and apps they are using, particularly if you become aware of something new and popular. Have you heard of ‘Squid Game’? Shows such as ‘Squid Game’ are intended for older audiences and contain scenes with strong themes and violence not suitable for younger people. Being exposed to this kind of content both directly through the streaming service - and indirectly through social media apps, games and pop-ups - can be distressing for children and young people.
School Wide Positive Behaviours Systems (SWPBS)
This week we will be looking to use equipment appropriately. This means bringing play equipment back inside after the bell goes. It also means using all equipment how it is supppsed to be used both inside and out and at home and at school.
Many thanks to everyone for all your help.
Positive Partnerships
Positive Partnerships have a number of FREE upcoming webinars for school staff and families. These topics may be of interest as schools and families plan for students to return to school.
