Newsletter 18/10/2021 Term 4 Week 33
From the Principal
Hello to everyone,
Well, what a start to our week!
We have been advised by DHHS, Barwon Health and CECV that due to the need to minimise any further spread of the virus in our school community, whilst also waiting for staff test results to come back, the school will be closed until Thursday Oct 21.
- Thursday October 21st - Foundation, Grades 2, 5 and 6 will return to onsite learning.
- Friday October 22nd – Foundation, Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 children to onsite learning.
- However, Grade 1 students will need to remain at home until advised by DHHS that they can return to onsite learning.
It has been decided in consultation with CECV that there will be no Supervised Learning offered this week.
We thank you for support, patience and understanding whilst we work through the process of keeping our community safe.
When school does return, students in Years 3 to Year 6 are to wear face masks when indoors and on school premises, unless an exception applies.
Stay safe

Face masks are now required for students in years 3-6, only when indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies.
Exceptions for all year levels include:
- Students with a physical or mental disability are not required to wear a face mask where their disability means it would not be suitable.

- The schoolzine app, WEB page & emails are our main form of communication. If you haven't been receiving any emails, please contact the school to double check your email address.
- We are still restricting non essential staff coming into the school.
- Please keep children home if they are not well.
- Extra ventilation in encouraged in the classrooms by windows and doors being left open and we will be trying to get outside more as the weather gets better.

- Maintaining COVID rules & cleaning regimes.

Socktober
Mission Month - Socktober
October is Mission Month where we raise money to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children in poverty around the world. On Friday, children wore different socks and donated a gold coin donation towards this cause grade 3/4 children will do this on another day. They played soccer and games with balls made out of old socks taped together, just like the children in the poorer countries. They did a great job to kick goals for kids in need. Please consider sending in any loose change to school for the Mission boxes. Many thanks

Foundation 2022
The Foundation 2022 interviews that were to be on October 25 & 26 have unfortunately been postponed until November 24 & 26. We have contacted parents involved and they will need to rebook their interview time. This is available now through PAM.
Friday 12th of November pupil free day
Due to COVID interruptions, we have had a lot of issues trying to get our pupil free day for RE completed this year. We have decided to postpone the RE since we cannot do this face to face and staff will complete their First Aid update module on this day.
This means there will be no school for students on this day.
Class Lists for 2022
While there are still many decisions to be confirmed about classes for 2022, class list preparations will begin over the coming weeks. If parents have a special need, this must be put in writing and sent into Annie by letter or email to principal@spcamperdown.catholic.edu.au.
Your views will be treated with the strictest confidence, but must concern important issues - not preference for a particular teacher. Please understand that parental views will be taken into consideration when preparing the class lists, however staff decisions which are based on the interests of all children and the need for well-balanced classes will take precedence.
Just to clarify the position of siblings in the same grade - our position is that brothers & sisters won’t be in the same room unless requested. If you would like your children in together, you will need to write requesting this. Some parents may have talked with me previously about classes for 2022, so I reiterate what I said at the time that I need these in writing please.
It would be greatly appreciated if these can be in by the end of October please.
Uniform
We still have very sporadic weather at the moment so children may choose summer or winter uniform depending on the weather.
We will need hats this term so please track them down, clean them up and send them to school for all the warm weather which is coming our way!
