Can I take this opportuity to pass on our condolences to the Barake family on the loss of a their sister, sister in law and aunty,  Nina Barake, in tragic circumstances last week. Please know that you and your extended family have the thoughts and prayers of the St Patrick's school community during this time.

Reports & Learning Conversations

School reports will go home this Friday 18th of June and Learning Conversations will be next week. We are still hoping that these will be face to face, however if anything changes we will still be able to do these via google meets. We will let you know later this week which way we will need to go.

We will break our Learning Conversations into year level groups over the course of the week:

Monday 21st: Foundation Learning Conversations

Tuesday 22nd: Grade 5/6 Learning Conversations

Wednesday 23rd: Grade 3/4 Learning Conversations

Thursday 24th: Grade 1/2 Learning Conversations

Bookings for these Learning Conversations are now open, so please get on and book your time slot through PAM.

Winter Sport

We are still working to finalise the change of dates for this event. As you can imagine everything is very uncertain due to the latest ongoing restrictions and trying to find days when so many schools are free is quite a challenge.

We are hoping for early next term & will send out an update to 5/6 parents as soon as we know.

School Wide Positive Behaviours Systems (SWPBS)

This year our school is involved in developing the SWPBS framework within our school. From our school review we identified that we would like to have more consistency around our school rules; what they are and how they are followed up.

SWPBS  is a framework for developing and explicitly teaching appropriate and positive behaviours.
Teaching, modelling and reinforcing positive social behaviour is an important part of a student’s educational experience. Teaching behavioural expectations and acknowledging students for meeting them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehaviour to occur before responding.
Key components
An agreed upon and common approach
A matrix of positively stated expectations
Explicit teaching of expectations
Regular and frequent opportunities to practice expected behaviours
Incentive/rewards for meeting behavioural expectations
Consistency of language

We had a school closure day working with Ann Ruddell who runs the SWPBS program for Catholic Education Ballarat and from this day we developed a Behaviour Matrix. This matrix is broken down into 3 mantra's: Be Your Best, Be Respectful, Be Safe and each of these mantras also takes into account the behaviours we would like to see in certain areas of the school & surrounds.

The behaviours this Behaviour Matrix contains will be specifically taught to children and we will also be having whole school foci on certain things. At the moment we are working on walking while inside.

Find attached our behaviour matrix for you to look at. It is a work in progress so if you have any feedback I would like to hear it.

Parents can help by:

Discussing the behavioural expectations of their child
Encouraging and acknowledging positivedbehaviours
Using the same language to provide consistency between home and school
Keep communication between you and your child’s teacher active throughout the school year

2022 Enrolments Update: Kinder Visits

Enrolment packages have gone out to Kinders. If you know of anyone who may like a tour remind them they can call the school anytime to arrange a suitable time.

We will be visiting the Camperdown Kinder & Banana Splits on Thursday 24th for an opportunity for our teaching staff to meet with the Kinder children. They will be involved in a couple of activities with the children. We will also be visiting the other Kinders in our area: Simpson, Cobden, Timboon & Western Plains, hopefully on Thursday 22nd July.

The Kinder children will be here at St Patrick's early next term on Thursday 15th & Thursday 29th July from 9.00-11.00 to do some activities in the school. All children from other local kinders are invited on these days.

IGA Card as a school fundraiser

Our Fundraising Partner Ritchies IGA, have launched their new Ritchies Card, incorporating the Community Benefit Program and this will not only benefit our organisation, but also all our families.

It is very important that families get one of the new Riches cards and present this when they are shopping at IGA, as we get on average $100 a month and over the years have received over $40,000, which is incredible. It is a really simple way to help contribute to our fundraising.

The old system finishes at the end of this month, so now is the time to act to make sure you have transferred over your allegiance to the school as the benefactor of your new card. The program also now has an App for both IOS and Android smart devices. For those members who don’t have a smart phone, or would like a physical card, this option is also available and can be linked to the school.
Every month, our school will receive 0.5%* of our members’ spend in Ritchies Stores PLUS our
members will receive special offers and member only specials via the App.
*T&C’s apply see https://www.ritchies.com.au/ritchiescardterms
Featuring monthly promotions, cheaper prices for you, Collect and Win, as well as games and lots
more fun things to do, this is a great opportunity to support our school.
You can  search for Ritchies in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
