From the Principal
Hello to everyone,
Welcome to week 16 and Catholic Education week for 2021.
Many thanks to the families who came along to the parish mass yesterday, it was great to see you there. This week we have a number of other activities on to celebrate Catholic Education being in Australia for the past 200 years:
- 24/5 Young Leaders day for school captains in Melbourne
- 24/5: 4 students to Ballarat for the Catholic Education diocesan mass.
- 24/5: SAC combined board dinner in Terang
- 26/5 2022 Enrolment Open day
- 28/5 Network Day
St Patrick's has been around for 135 of those years and has successfully educated many, many children over this time. Can I thank everyone who has been involved in our school at any stage over the past 135 years. It is the people who make our school and our Catholic system what it is, I am certainly proud to have been able to play a role in the development and education of so many people.

Celebrating Catholic Education Week
Open Day
This Wednesday: May 26th 9.00 am - 3.00 pm.
2021 marks 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia and the purpose of this day is for prospective families to come along and see how our school operates on a normal school day.
Interested prospective families are welcome to come along at any time on this day, meet with members of the school leadership team, have a tour of the school and to see what our beautiful school has to offer.
There will also be opportunity to talk with other staff, students and parents and to get some more information on St Patrick's.
Bookings can be taken if you have a specfic time in mind or else feel free to turn up on the day.
- We have enrolment packages that can be sent out at anytime.
- To receive a package please fill out the inquiry form or contact our office on 03 55931962
- 2022 enrolments will officially open later in term 2 & packages given to kinders then.
- If any of our current families know anyone who would be interested in coming along, please feel free to pass this information on to them.
Young Leaders Day


Our school captains attended Young Leaders day in Melbourne today with Jess Courtney & Marie Wall. This day gathers together prominent inspirational leaders from all walks of life to inspire and educate the promising young leaders of today.

Division Cross Country

Congratulations and best of luck to the 13 Students who went to the next level of the cross country championships today: Thomas Hinkley, Piper Stephens, Maisie Molan, Ava Cunningham, Sam Blain, Ethan Shadforth, Tyra Sambell, Katerina Guinia, Isaac Lawlor, Jimmy Cheeseman, Maddison Mitchell & Maddison Lucas. Well done also to Paddy Hassett who had made it through but had school captain duties.
Catholic Education Week

This week is Catholic Education week where we will be celebrating 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia. We had a 2 page spread in the paper last week and have a number of functions on this week. Some of the events we will be holding at school are:
HCSN Combined SAC dinner in Terang. The School Advisory Council members from the 4 HCSN schools meet once a year to celebrate Catholic Education week. This year we have our director, Tom Sexton and St Thomas' parish priest Michael McKinnon as our guest speakers.
Wednesday 26th: School Open Day: As advertised, we have an open day for any prospective parents to come through to visit our school and see it in action.
Friday 28th: Network Day. On this day the children will be mixing with children from the other HCSN schools.
Catholic Ed HCSN day
- Foundation children will be going to St Thomas'.
- Grade 1/2 children will be staying at St Patrick's.
- Grade 3/4 children will be going to St Colman’s in Mortlake.
- Grade 5/6 children going to MRC O’Keeffe campus.
There is no cost involved and children being transported will go by bus during school hours. It is a wonderful day full of activities and a great opportunity to make some new friends. Please pack enough lunch, snacks and a drink, as there are no lunch orders available.

Ballarat Diocesan Mass Celebrating 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia.

Artwork: Every class in the school has contributed to our Catholic Education Week art display to celebrate 200 years of Catholic Education. The children have interpreted ourschool values, motto and catholic tradition into their artwork. They look fabulous!
Catholic School Culture
Parish Mass: Catholic Education Week began yesterday with the grade 1/2 Parish Mass to
give thanks for 200 years of Catholic Education. The theme this year is Faith in the Future
which speaks of the essence of hope in faith in the future of Catholic education. Thank-you
to all students, teachers and families who came along and also to the grade 1/2 children
who assisted with this mass. It was wonderful to see so many people attend.
National Mass: Today, four representatives from our school went with Tracy to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Ballarat to celebrate the National Mass with Bishop Paul Bird and other
representatives from schools in our diocese. The children representing St. Pat’s were
Victoria Buckle, Sam Wallace, Monica Thornton and Kade Kerr. These children represented
our school well and enjoyed the experience of coming together with the wider diocesan
community.
First Holy Eucharist: First Holy Eucharist will be held in Cobden on Saturday 5 th of June at 6pm or in Camperdownon Sunday 7 th of June at 11am. The note for date preference was due in today. Please keep the following children in your prayers as they prepare to make the Sacrament of First HolyEucharist; Halle Barake, Charlie Bourke, Orson Capizzi, Taylor Cameron, Jimmy Cheeseman,Daisy Courtney, Hannah Cridland, Madison Fisher, Lachlan Hewitt, Jayden Kleinhenz, Ava Lafferty, Isaac Lawlor, Chase Lee, Jake Lenssen, Madison Lucas, Grace Magilton, Zoe
Roberts, William Ryan, Scarlett Simmonds, Riley Spence and Olive Wills.
Mini Vinnies: Thank-you to families who have sent in donations for the Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal and the Food Drive – your kindness is very much appreciated and the donated items will provide much needed support – thank-you!! The Mini Vinnies children are doing a wonderful job with these collections and will still be collecting until the end of term.
Mrs Powling on leave
We wish Mrs Claire Powling all the best as she heads off on maternity leave at the end of this week. From next week Mrs Janelle Smith will be in 1WS on Monday & Tuesday and Mrs Amy Wynd from Wednesday - Friday.
Robbie Burns Festival
The Robert Burns Festival in Camperdown will be held on the weekend of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of
July during the school holidays. As part of the lead up to this community event, some interested
children at school will have the opportunity to learn an Indigenous song and dance with
Brett Clark on Wednesday afternoons. There will be two opportunities for children to
perform at the festival when they attend with their families.
- Saturday the 3rd of July: Free Family Night Concert
- Sunday the 4th of July: FESTIVAL FINALE CONCERT from around 1pm onwards.
Brett is doing a Welcome to Country and performing the 2 songs with the children on
stage. Children will be required to wear black pants or jeans with either a red, yellow
or black t-shirt. Children will be in attendance with their families.
In addition, artwork from children at St. Patrick's will be displayed in local shops and
businesses in Camperdown prior to the festival.

Woolworths Camperdown - quiet hour in store once a week.
On a Tuesday between 1030am and 1130am the music is turned (low/off?), the lights are dimmed to half lighting, PA announcements will only be used when there is an emergency or for customer assistance if there is not another option and loud roll cages for stock will not be used unless necessary.
Please share this information with families within our school community that would benefit from this quiet hour .
