Our Prayer

From the Principal
Dear parents, carers and community members,
Welcome back to school for Term 4. We are looking forward to better weather to allow a chance to learn outside where we can. There are many exciting events planned for the term and we look forward to providing many exciting learning opportunities over the next 11 weeks.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
Spelling Championships

The Grand Final of our Spelling Championships was held last term and it was a very tightly contested competition. Our girls winner was Madi Lucas and Daisy Courtney was the runner up. Aarav Singh won the boys competition and Will Ryan came second. Well done to our winners and all of our finalists.

The Week Ahead
Economics Projects

Our senior classes worked on economic projects last term to support their enquiry studies about money, business and the world of finance. The children loved the opportunity to plan and create a business within the school and many displayed great entrepreneurial skills. They raised a total of $1133.00 between the 4 classes which has been donated to charities of the children's choice.
5/6 Fun Day

The 5/6 fun day was run on the second last day of Term 3 and our senior students did an amazing job creating fun activities for the rest of the school. They raised $1727.60 to subsidise the cost of the Grade 6 camp.
3/4L Netball clinic

On Friday the 6th of October our 3/4L children will take part in a netball clinic conducted by students from Mercy as part of their community engagement opportunities. Can these students please wear their PE clothes on this day.
WELLBEING
Farewell and Welcome

As is sometimes the case, we have had families move from our school and into our school community recently.
We bid farewell to the Macchiesi May & McKinnon family as Luca, Oscar and Daisy move to Warrnambool to attend St Joseph's Primary School.
This week we welcome Emilie Steel to our Foundation class and Jackson Jewell to our senior classes. We hope they experience a warm and genuine sense of welcome.
CATHOLIC SCHOOL CULTURE
Being with Jesus

Matthew’s Gospel reminds us that; " where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there.” I took some Long Service Leave at the end of 3rd Term for a ‘Relly Rally’. This is the name our family gives to a journey that involves visiting relatives. I’m the oldest of 7 with 4 brothers and two sisters. I took my youngest brother Dominic on this Relly Rally where we visited family and reconnected. We began with my late Dad’s surviving sister Aunty Mary and brother Uncle Bowler and some of my cousins, how special it was to be with them and remember my Dad. From there it was to my sister Bernie in Sydney followed by my brother Gerard and his family in Brisbane. On the return journey we visited my Mum’s brother Uncle John in Grafton, then back to Bernie’s in Sydney where I visited my Godson Jack before returning home. At each place we gathered Jesus was present. As we begin a new term and move towards the season of Advent and Christmas may you truly feel the presence of Jesus as you gather.
Term 4 Friday Buddy Masses
All are welcome to attend the 9.30 Friday Mass at St. Patrick’s Church with their child’s class. The dates for this term are as follows:

Soundfield
Thank you the St Vincent de Paul Society of Camperdown for their support in purchasing a Soundfield System. This system allows a teacher to wear a microphone in class to amplify their voice to support the learning of a student with a hearing imparement. This will not only support the individual student, but all the children in this classroom.

Building Program

We have finally completed all of the requirements for our building program for our new Senior School wing and tenders for the job were sent out to six building companies during the school holidays. These will now submit a quote for the job and once the contract is awarded, we will hopefully have action on the site at some stage in the second half of this term.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
New Learning Space
We have used a grant opportunity to transform an untidy area of the school into an area to support our environmental learning. This area will be used as an outdoor classroom area and a quiet space for children during break times. The children are now sharing ideas to make this a great space for learning.
