Our Prayer

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
This week sees the end of a very settled and productive term at St Pat's. We finish at 2:15pm on Friday and we wish everyone a restful and safe school holiday before we recommence term 4 on Tuesday 3rd of October. Thank you to all our families for your support for the school this term and we look forward to finishing 2023 off with a great term 4 filled with learning and fun.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
Student Free Day

The first day of Term 4 - Monday the 2nd of October will be a student free day. Staff will participate in a Professional Development Day. Students will commence Term 4 on Tuesday 3rd of October.
Spelling Championships

Test four of the Grade 5/6 Spelling Championship was conducted last Tuesday. Here are the students who achieved a 35 out of 35 score.
Grace Barber, Mali Maskell, Elaine Ryan, Stephanie Fleming, Sienna Anderson, Edie Molan, Vince Titmus, Aarav Singh, Daisy Courtney, Jake Lenssen, Madi Lucas, Will Ryan, Emma Bonner & Halle Barake.
The following students have qualifed for the Grand Final to be held on Thursday;
Jake Lenssen, Aarav Singh, Vince Titmus, Will Ryan, Steph Fleming, Grace Barber, Daisy Courtney, Halle Barake, Charlotte Dean, Mariia Gunina, Maisie Cunningham, Mali Maskell & Madi Lucas.
The Grand Final will be a 50 word test. Students are advised to practise any words without a number next to them, as words from the first four tests will not be used in this random selection.
The Week Ahead
Grade 1 Excursion

Our Grade 1 students are heading to the Cudgee Wildlife Encounters this Thursday the 14th of September for their excursion. They are leaving and returning within school time and are asked to bring their lunch, snacks and a drink bottle. The children need to be in sport uniform and, with the warm weather, we need children to have their hats on the day.
Mixed Netball State Champions

Wow!!! Our St Patrick's mixed netball team were crowned State Champions on Friday at the State Netball Hockey Centre in Royal Park. They won each of their three preliminary games which put them in the semi-final. They won this by 2 goals to qualify for the Grand Final. They gained a strong lead by half time but opposition came back hard. Our team held on to win by 2 to claim the victory.
We had a large contingent of supporting family members to cheer them on which helped the team greatly. The team all went down on Thursday evening and stayed close by, which allowed for some team bonding before the big day.
A huge thank you needs to be given to Matt Harkin and Marie Wall for their organisation, care, professionalism and commitment to this opportunity. The children played very well and their behaviour was exemplary over the two days.

5/6 Fun Day Change

The 5/6 fun day was postponed last week due to poor weather but it has been rescheduled to this Wednesday the 13th. All students are asked to bring between $5 and $10 in coins to spend at the events and stalls that the Grade 5/6 children have prepared. All students are asked to wear their sports uniform on this day. This is a great way to see the entrepreneurial skills of the children to raise money for the Grade 6 camp.

Uniform

Can I ask parents to focus on the way their children are presented at school. At the moment we are in transition between the current uniform and the new uniform recommended by the School Advisory Council however, many students are out of uniform or are quite untidy at the moment. A random collection of socks and shoes are appearing and many students are bringing their things in backpacks that are not our school bags. We are keen to present a neat and well-kept student group despite the challenges of sourcing our current wardrobe of clothes.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
New Learning Space
We have used a grant opportunity to transform an untidy area of the school into an area to support our environmental learning. This area will be used as an outdoor classroom area and a quiet space for children during break times. The children are now sharing ideas to make this a great space for learning.

Parents Association Meeting

The next fundraising activity for the Parents and Friends is the St Patrick's Trivia Night. We are forming an organising committee of Grade 6 parents to help with this event and we are asking families to save the date of Friday 10th of November.
Birthdays

Happy Birthday to the following students who celebrate their birthday this week and during the holidays.
Harry S, Baxter H, Evie M, Archer R-W, Aidan G, Sam S,
Daisy C, Billie-Violet M, Hannah C, Scout C & Amelia M
