Our Prayer
From the Principal
Dear parents, carers and community members,
Thank you to all our fathers, and adults who play a significent role in the lives of our students, who were able to join us at our Father's Day Breakfast last Friday. It was a wonderful chance to take a break, enjoy a meal with the kids and have a chat with others in our school community.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
Student Free Day
The first day of Term 4 - Monday the 2nd of October will be a student free day. Staff will participate in a Professional Development Day.
Spelling Championships
Test three of the Grade 5/6 Spelling Championship was conducted last Tuesday. Here are the students who achieved a 35 out of 35 score.
Charlotte Dean, Steph Fleming, Maisie Cunningham, Vincent Titmus, Aarav Singh, Daisy Courtney and Madison Lucas.
Test four (the last test) will be conducted tomorrow at 10:40am. Students who have scored 130 or more over the four tests will qualify for the Grand Final next Thursday. The Grand Final will be a 50 word test. Students are advised to practise any words without a number next to them, as words from the first four tests will not be used in this random selection.
The Week Ahead
5/6 Fun Day
The 5/6 fun day is a highlight of the calendar as the Senior students plan and run fun games and competitions for the rest of the children to enjoy. Next Thursday the 7th all students are asked to bring between $5 and $10 in coins to spend. This is a great way to see the entrepreneurial skills of the children to raise money for the Grade 6 camp.
WELLBEING
Sports Colours Day
"I Can..." Imagination Club
There are only 2 sessions left for "I Can..." Imagination Club. Today and next Monday the 11th of September.
CATHOLIC SCHOOL CULTURE
Following Jesus
Matthew’s Gospel yesterday had some challenging words for us with Jesus saying to his disciples, ‘If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it. What, then, will a man gain if he wins the whole world and ruins his life? Or what has a man to offer in exchange for his life?’
Today people follow others on Twitter or other platforms, sometimes we need to ask ourselves the pertinent questions;
‘Are they really worth following?’
‘Is their message making the world a better place?’
‘Is what they are saying building stronger relations?’’
Some food for thought!
Kind regards, Mr. S. 😃
Donation
Special thanks to Annette Mulholland (Abby’s Grandmother) for the donation of puppets and musical instruments to the Foundation students - greatly appreciated.
