Our Prayer

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
Today we are celebrating our love of books and literature through our Book Week activities and dress up day. The children looked amazing in their outfits and we know that this is primarily due to the energies and efforts of their families. Thank you for making this a special day every year in our school calendar.

Possum Magic at COPAC

The Foundation children had a wonderful day last Tuesday attending Possum Magic at COPAC. After the show, the children had lunch at the Colac Gardens and stopped at Red Rock on the way home. Thanks to our teachers for organising such an enjoyable day.
Hooptime Competition
Another great day was had at the 3/4 All Stars Hooptime basketball on Friday in Terang. The two teams we sent competed very well and represented their school beautifully on the day. Our girls team won the Grand Final and will move on to the next level.
The Hooptime basketball competition concludes this Friday with the final event here in Camperdown for the 3/4 Rookies.

WELLBEING
"I Can..." Imagination Club

After a short break, our "I Can..." Imagination Club sessions will recommence next week and will run each Monday on the following days.
- 28th of August
- 4th of September
- 11th of September
These will be our final sessions for this year.
CATHOLIC SCHOOL CULTURE
Who do you say that I am?
This week we have one of my favourite Gospel Readings, from the writings of Matthew.
“Jesus said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,”
If Peter is the rock or the foundation, we are the bricks and mortar. The Church isn’t a building, or an institution, but a people striving to walk in Jesus’ footsteps to make the world a better place.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Peter because he was so human, always making plenty of mistakes! My Dad was named Peter and in his Eulogy last year I described him as my rock. My youngest son is Connor Peter and carries his name with pride.
In St. Peter’s in Rome there is a remarkable bronze statue of St. Peter. His foot has become worn over the centuries from pilgrims rubbing it whilst they pray.
Term 3 Friday Class Masses
Our final Class Mass is this week with the Grade 5/6 Mass at St Patrick’s Church. All are welcome to attend the 9.30am Friday Mass with their child’s class.
Kind regards, Mr. S. 😃
Congratulations
Congratulations to Bailey and Tommy Fox on making their First Eucharist on Sunday at St Patrick's church.

Intentions for 2024

It is the time of year when we begin planning our school structure for 2024 and to have accurate numbers, we ask parents to inform us if their children will be leaving our school for next year. If this is the case please contact the school office as soon as possible.
Taster Day

Our "Taster Day" last Thursday was a lovely opportunity for preschool children to experience what it is like at St Patrick's. The children at Baranbali Camperdown Kindergarten and Banana Splits attend with their teachers and we had some students attend from other kinders in our region. There were three activities to enjoy; Phys Ed, STEM and AUSLAN/Health and we are grateful for the energies and talents of our specialist teachers who ran these classes, Paula A, Tracy and Matthew.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Father's Day Breakfast and Stall

Father's Day this year will be on Sunday the 3rd of September so we will be holding our Father's day breakfast and stall on Friday the 1st of September.
Father's Day Stall
We are going back to our usual structure of asking each child to bring a small gift suitable for a father or significant person in the life of the children. These will be available for purchase for $2 at the Father's Day stall in the morning after the breakfast. Please do not wrap the gifts. We are looking for Grade 3 parents to help sort and sell these in the school staffroom. If you are able to help, please contact the office.
Father's Day Breakfast
We will be holding our Father's Day breakfast on Friday the 1st of September beginning at 7:30am for our early starters. There is a $5 cost per adult or secondary student and a $3 charge for school age students. This can be paid to the office before the day or on arrival.
School Advisory Council Meeting

Our next School Advisory Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 29th at 7pm in the staffroom.
Parents Association Meeting

Our next parents meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 5th.
Please consider coming along to the meeting at 7pm in the staffroom.
