From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,

We are well into Term 3 now and students and staff have settled into the rhythm and routine of learning and playing. We welcome Lisa Quattrocchi to our school community as she commences her role of Art Specialist teacher and hope that she experiences a sense of welcome and belonging. This new appointment means that there will be some changes to our timetable as some of our Art classes will be held on a Friday.

NAPLAN Results

Year 3 & 5 NAPLAN results will be sent home this week and we have much to celebrate!!  Please keep these results in a safe place as a copy is required when enrolling at a Secondary School.

Student achievement in NAPLAN is reported using new proficiency standards for each assessment area at each year level. The standards are set at a challenging but reasonable expectation of what students know and can do at the time of testing. There are 4 proficiency levels:

  • Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
  • Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
  • Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
  • Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes that are expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

The video below gives a detailed description of how to read your child's results.  For more information obout the skills and understandings students were required to demonstrate at the time of testing, parents can click on the link below.

Cyberbullying Information

Protecting our (increasingly younger) children from cyberbullying

The internet has given children and young people new opportunities to learn, play and socialise. However, this increased online presence, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic, also exposes them to new harms and risks.

Concerningly, reports to eSafety’s cyberbullying complaints team show younger children are increasingly experiencing negative online behaviour. Reports of serious cyberbullying of children between the ages of eight and 13 years has more than tripled compared to pre-pandemic 2019 – jumping from a little over 200 complaints in 2019 to almost 740 in 2022.

With Term 3 now started, take a few minutes to learn more about cyberbullying – what it is, ways to protect your child, and how to get help if your child experiences it.
