School Disco

Our senior students hosted a school disco last Friday to raise money to supplement the cost of their school camps for this year. We are pleased to let you know that we made a profit of $1,100. The St Pat's children of all ages enjoyed a wonderful evening of dancing and fun.

Community Meal

It is our turn to host Community Meal on Wednesday 2nd of August. Our Senior students will help prepare, serve and clean up on this day. We will be in contact with the families of the class that will be hosting this meal shortly.
Grandparents Mass - Foundation

This Friday the 28th of July our Foundation classes will be attending Mass at 9:30am. They have invited their grand parents or significent people in their lives to join them. This will be a lovely way to celebrate together. Everyone will then come back to school to the classroom for some activities and to share morning tea together.
Hooptime Competition

The Hooptime basketball competition for school commences shortly in Terang and we will enter teams in the following events.
Hooptime 5/6 All stars - Friday 4th August
Hooptime 5/6 Rookies - Friday 11th August
Hooptime 3/4 All stars - Friday 18th August
Hooptime 3/4 Rookies - Friday 25th August
Foundation - Possum Magic Workshop

COPACC are hosting a performance by Monkey Baa Theatre Company of the Mem Fox classic, Possum Magic. They have agreed to visit St Patrick's Foundation classes to share some of their show on Monday 31st of July at 10:00am for a 45 minute workshop in the Big Room. We are looking forward to this opportunity to enjoy this beautiful story.
Lions Eye Health Program
Unfortunately the Lions Club could not attend today for the eye tests.
They will now take place later this term and we will keep you informed of a new date.
5/6MJ Marble Jar Success

The children of 5/6MJ have been working and behaving beautifully and have earned themselves a full jar of marbles. As a reward they will be having a small class party and can wear casual clothes on Wednesday 26th July.
Thanks Grade 5/6MJ and well done.
Vickie and Mrs Judd
NAPLAN Results

Year 3 & 5 NAPLAN results will be sent home this week and we have much to celebrate!! Please keep these results in a safe place as a copy is required when enrolling at a Secondary School.
Student achievement in NAPLAN is reported using new proficiency standards for each assessment area at each year level. The standards are set at a challenging but reasonable expectation of what students know and can do at the time of testing. There are 4 proficiency levels:
- Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
- Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
- Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
- Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes that are expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.
The video below gives a detailed description of how to read your child's results. For more information obout the skills and understandings students were required to demonstrate at the time of testing, parents can click on the link below.
Cyberbullying Information
Protecting our (increasingly younger) children from cyberbullying
The internet has given children and young people new opportunities to learn, play and socialise. However, this increased online presence, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic, also exposes them to new harms and risks.
Concerningly, reports to eSafety’s cyberbullying complaints team show younger children are increasingly experiencing negative online behaviour. Reports of serious cyberbullying of children between the ages of eight and 13 years has more than tripled compared to pre-pandemic 2019 – jumping from a little over 200 complaints in 2019 to almost 740 in 2022.
With Term 3 now started, take a few minutes to learn more about cyberbullying – what it is, ways to protect your child, and how to get help if your child experiences it.
