Our Prayer for First Eucharist

From the Principal

Dear parents, carers and community members,
Term 3 has begun in a very positive way with most of our parents able to come to school to meet with their child's teacher to discuss their academic, social and emotional growth over the first half of the year. If you were unable to attend these, I highly recommend that you contact your child's teacher for an opportunity to meet.
Grade 3/4 Wellbeing Day

Our three Grade 3/4 classes began term 3 with a wellbeing day focusing on looking after our physical, emotional and social wellbeing. We would like to thank Tania Rowan and Nick Hose for their support on this day.
Parents and Friends Meeting

The St Patrick's Parents and Friends will be meeting this Tuesday the 18th of July at 7pm in the staffroom. We are hoping to use this meeting to plan and structure the fundraising events for 2024 and are seeking the support of parents in our school. We would like parents who have not been part of this group in the past to consider a one-time contribution to the meeting to help reorganise our efforts and allow planning for next year to begin at this early stage.
Cross Country Success

Congratulations to Harry on representing St Patrick’s at the State Cross Country Championships last week in Melbourne. He did a wonderful job competing against the best runners in Victoria.
School Disco

Our senior students will be running a school disco this Friday the 21st of July in the Big Room at school, beginning at 6pm and ending at 7:30pm.
This is a fundraising event so there will be a $5 entry fee and snacks/drinks available to purchase. As this is National Pyjama Day the SRC have chosen the theme of a pyjama party for the dance.
Foundation - Possum Magic Workshop

COPACC are hosting a performance by Monkey Baa Theatre Company of the Mem Fox classic, Possum Magic. They have agreed to visit St Patrick's Foundation classes to share some of their show on Monday 31st of July at 10:00am for a 45 minute workshop in the Big Room. We are looking forward to this opportunity to enjoy this beautiful story.
Cyberbullying Information
Protecting our (increasingly younger) children from cyberbullying
The internet has given children and young people new opportunities to learn, play and socialise. However, this increased online presence, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic, also exposes them to new harms and risks.
Concerningly, reports to eSafety’s cyberbullying complaints team show younger children are increasingly experiencing negative online behaviour. Reports of serious cyberbullying of children between the ages of eight and 13 years has more than tripled compared to pre-pandemic 2019 – jumping from a little over 200 complaints in 2019 to almost 740 in 2022.
With Term 3 now started, take a few minutes to learn more about cyberbullying – what it is, ways to protect your child, and how to get help if your child experiences it.

First Communion
Congratulations to our First Communicants Alexis, Millie, Brodie, Theo, Matthew, Jed, Lucy, Max, Abby and Liam who completed their Sacramental initiation into the Catholic Church on the weekend. Both the Cobden celebration on Saturday night and the Camperdown service on Sunday were very special occasions and the children clearly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in this special event.
