From the Principal
Dear parents, carers and community members,
We are well into our term now and the students are enjoying the structure and routine of learning without an enormous number of interruptions. A big thank you to our families who were able to attend the Mother's Day breakfast on Friday, as it was a wonderful turn out. Thank you to the staff for giving of their time and energy to be ready for an early start and to feed such a large number of people. I hope all mothers and carers of our students had a lovely day on Sunday with family and friends.

St Patrick's School Open Day
Monday, May 22nd has been set for our open day across the whole school. Prospective parents and existing parents are invited to visit us between 9am and 11am to see the learning taking place in the classrooms. If you are unable to make this day, individualised tours are available by appointment.

School Wide Positive Behaviours System
To recognise and reinforce students displaying the agreed positive behaviours in our school, we are introducing a system to identify and celebrate these behaviours.
Canteen Change

We have identified some concerns regarding the current use of the canteen and have made some changes to the way children can purchase food. Some of the issues raised are that:-
- Parents are not able to help children make healthy choices around what they are eating throughout the day.
- Students purchasing large amounts of sweets for themselves.
- Children are sharing their purchases with other students.
- Children with allergies or food intolerance may be exposed to the wrong foods.
- Children are rushing eating time to line up at the canteen and spend a portion of their time in line to make a purchase.
- Bringing cash to school can lead to lost or taken money.
To reduce these issues, we will now have two options for buying from the canteen. Parents can place an order online (link to the canteen is on schoolzine) or an order can be written on an envelope with the money inside. Children will not be able to bring cash to school and just walk into the canteen to buy food. Thank you for your support with this initiative.
Grade 2 Heritage Walk

Last Friday our two Grade 2 classes completed their heritage walk and visit to the Camperdown Historical Society. They had a wonderful time of fun, learning and enjoyed being part of their local community.

Cross Country Continues

Congratulations to all the students who attended the District Cross Country last Friday at the Noorat Recreation reserve. They all competed very well and we have 11 students progressing to the Division event this Friday. St Patrick's won the overall event by just one point.

Catholic School Culture

Grade 3- 6 Mass
Our Grade 3-6 Mass will be held on Friday the 19th May at the church commencing at 9.30am.
It would be great to see lots of parents come along.

Sacrament of Confirmation
We have students completing their Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday, 26th May at 6pm. We ask that you continue to keep the following children in your prayers. Poppy Gaut, Thomas Dixon, Leroy Fisher, Baxter Huggins, Roy Molan, Amber Narik, Charlotte Pascoe, Anderson Pekin, Olivia Simmonds, William Sinnott, George Titmus, Lewie West, Savanna Wright and Pippa Woodmason.

Fatima Feast Day
Saturday 13th of May was the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. Our children in Fatima House (green) will celebrate the Feast Day today. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal in 1917. Appearing to the children, She told them that She had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman and child. At the time, civilization was torn by war and violence and She promised that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if her prayer requests were heard. Children in Fatima House received an icy pole and a small packet of chips today to celebrate this feast day.
Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima
Queen of the most holy rosary who deigned to come to Fatima to reveal a treasury of graces.
You were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message.
We implore you to inspire in our hearts a love for the recitation of the rosary
By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein, may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen

Colour-in Winner
Last week it was announced that Olivia Barber had won the McCann's Newsagency colour-in competition. This was a national competition and she and the school each won a voucher to spend in the Newsagency here in Camperdown. Congratulations Olivia and well done on this great art work and thank you to McCann's for this great opportunity.
