Easter Prayer

From the Principal
Dear parents, carers and community members,
We have reached the final week of a very rewarding and challenging term. This has been a longer term than usual due to the lateness of the Easter date making it 11 weeks. We have commenced the year, welcomed new school community members, held many major events and completed considerable learning in this time. Thank you to our parents for their support with the ongoing challenges we are facing and for their willingness to participate in their children's education. We would like to wish all our families a happy Easter and a relaxing term break. We will see all of our children at school on Wednesday 27th of April when classes commence for Term 2. We hope to see lots of families at our Anzac Day march.
Early finish last day of Term
Just a friendly reminder that Thursday is an early finish for the end of Term 1.
The finish time is 2.15 pm.
School Athletics Carnival
Our school athletics carnival last Wednesday was a huge success in many aspects.
- It was a great opportunity for students to do their best in sport.
- It was a great community event.
- It allowed students to see that sport is to be a fun activity.
- It showed reward for attitude and not just performance.
- It allowed parents to engage in a school event.
- It provided an enjoyable break at the end of a long term of learning.
- It was a fundraising opportunity for the P&F.
Thank you to Matt Harkin and Paul Kingston for their coordination. Thanks to our students for their great participation on the day. Thank you to the staff for their great work on the day. Thanks to the parents and the P&F for their help on the day. Thanks to the Mercy students who helped with events on the day.

Alpha Shows Performance of Hercules
The Alpha Shows performance of "Hercules" last Friday was an excellent opportunity for the students to engage in story and song together as a school. It gives an insight into where a career in the arts can lead.

The Week Ahead

Easter Raffle

Don't forget that our Easter Raffle is this Thursday 6th April.
If you have not brought in your one egg/Easter item per child yet please do so before Thursday.
The raffle tickets were due back to school last Friday but if you are yet to bring yours in, you can do so now. Please write on both sides of the tickets & return them to school along with the money ($1 per ticket = $20 per book)
The Easter Raffle is one of our major fundraisers for the year and is a highlight for the children.
Thank you

A big shout out to Woolworths Camperdown store for their donation of chocolate easter bunnies for our Easter Raffle.
We thank them very much for their generous donation.
'I Can' Imagination Club

For families of students who are enrolled in the program and any other interested parties, there will be an online information session held via zoom tonight Monday April 3rd, 5.00pm - 6.00pm. Lauren Baudinette from 'I Can' will host the session. If you wish to be involved in this opportunity, please contact the school office. The I Can Imagination Club is a program for students who may have learning differences or experience social anxieties or lack of social confidence. The beauty of this program is that it can be used by the school to engage a broad range of students that require some extra social skills assistance and to help build peer connectedness and confidence.
Beginning of Term 2

Term 2 has an unusual beginning and there are important events for parents to be aware of. Week 1 begins like this:-
Monday - Pupil free day (Staff at school for professional learning)
Tuesday - ANZAC day public holiday and March, the school is closed
Wednesday - First day of classes for students and School Photo Day
Thursday - Grade 4 camp to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat (Day 1)
Friday - Grade 4 camp to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat (Day 2)
ANZAC Day Parade

Tuesday 25th of April is ANZAC Day and St Patrick's students are invited to join the parade for the march. We will meet at the clocktower 10:30am, in school uniform to prepare for the march and the ceremony at the war memorial. Our school leaders will lay a wreath on behalf of the school comminity.
Catholic School Culture

The Last Supper
On Thursday children and staff will come together to reflect on the Lent period. Some of our 5/6 students will reenact the Last Supper for our whole school on Thursday.
Confirmation
On Friday, 26th May we have students completing their Sacrament of Confirmation. If you have not returned you form, could you kindly complete this as soon as possible.
HOLY WEEK
As we enter Holy Week, we continue to reflect on the lives of people vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice and how we can respond through supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion appeal.
Your generosity is the pebble that allows Caritas Australia to create the ripples that will improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, supporting them to flourish and create opportunities for future generations to live to their full potential.
Thank you!
Please return all Project Compassion boxes and envelopes to the school office by Friday 26th May or donate online via the Caritas Australia website at www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion

School Uniform Term 2
As we move into term 2 and our weather continues to be a little changeable, I am happy for students to wear either summer or winter uniform, depending on their preference until we officially move into our winter uniform a little later in the term. My only request is that it is either one or the other and not a combination of both.
Please feel free to look in the cupboard at school before purchasing new clothes.
Student Free Day
Monday the 24th April is a student free day for all students at St Patrick's.
Our staff will be attending a Professional Development day.
Tuesday is the Anzac day public holiday, this means that the first day of term 2 will be Wednesday the 26th April.
Grade 4 Camp
Our Grade 4 children will be heading to camp in Ballarat the first week back at school.
This is a great camp where the children get to immerse themselves in the lifestyle of the 1850’s on the Ballarat goldfields.
The children attend one of the schools, get to see some of the many sites at Sovereign Hill and also participate in the many tours and activities such as gold panning, mine tours, smelting of gold etc. It is a wonderful camp and one of the highlights of the grade 4 year.
School Cross Country
Our annual school Cross Country will be on Monday 1st of May. This will be held at the school, with the children completing laps of the block or the school ovals. All parents are invited to attend this day and support their child/ren. We will be starting around 11.30 and working through the age groups starting with the U12’s first. Timing is hard to be accurate but each race takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes. We aim to try & be finished by around 2.00 pm.
Parish Bulletin
ANZAC Appeal

ANZAC badges are being sold at school for children to purchase. There are pens, wristbands and a various range of badges. The cost per item ranges from $1- to $10. This fundraising campaign supports veterans and their families who have been impacted by their service and sacrifice. Please support this cause and give something back to those who have given so much for all of us.
School Photo Day

Our school photo day will be held on the first day of Term 2 - Wednesday the 26th April.
Your envelopes have now gone home with your children. If you are ordering on line there is no need to return your envelope. If are NOT ordering online you will still need to return your envelope. Children are to wear summer uniform with jumpers on, thank you.
Children who competed at District Aths should bring their sports clothes for team photo.
