From the Principal
Hello to everyone,
Welcome to week 22 & Remote learning 5.0,
The latest news from the premier is that our lock down will not finish tomorrow night as first thought. There has been no indication as to when it will finish, however we have planned for this week and it will include Google classroom work on Tuesday, a specialist program day on Wednesday & Google Classroom work on Thursday & Friday.
Many thanks to everyone for all your efforts to once again ensure that we have been able to handle this situation quickly and efficiently. We are very grateful for your support.
Can I stress to parents the importance of checking your emails often, as it is one of our most reliable ways of getting information to parents. We will continue to send out emails during all lockdowns to keep you as informed as we can.
Lots of things put on hold so we will endeavour to get new dates out to you asap & if anyone needs any help please let us know so we can work through any issues.
Enjoy the week ahead,
Mick

Remote Learning 5.0
The premier announced this morning that we will not be finishing our lockdown tomorrow night as planned. As to when it will finish, this is yet to be announced and we will let you know as soon as we know.
From today children have access to their Google Classroom page to remote learn from home. Each area has sent out, via email & on their Google classroom, an outline of what will be happening for their grade level for the next few days. Emails are one of our main avenues for sending out information so please check regularly.
As the lockdown will now extend for longer than Mon/Tues, I can confirm that Wednesday of this week will be the specialists day & Thursday & Friday the literacy/numeracy learning days for the week. All information will be on your childs Google Classroom page.
If any hard copies of work are required please let your teacher know asap.
If children are required to attend school due to vulnerability or parents being essential workers, please fill in the attendance form emailed out last Thursday evening & again attached to this newsletter. If something changes for you after this form is submitted, please contact the school directly so that we know if children are coming or not. It is just like a school day, if you have told us the children are coming and something happens, you need to let the school know, so we are not expecting them and then need to make a follow up phone call.
If a computer is required please complete the form in the link below asap. These are ready to be collected.
These two forms are new to us this lockdown and have been developed by the office team after feedback from previous lockdowns. Hopefully it will be easier for parents to navigate and also help make it easier for office administration.
Buses will be running as normal although they may be a little earlier both in the morning or at night due to lower numbers on the bus.
For those children coming into school, the canteen will be operating and is certainly an option for ordering lunch and if your chid is sick in any way please keep them home from school.

Ritchies Community Benefit
Another reminder to please consider nominating St Patrick's as your preferred organisation when shopping at IGA. Over the years we have received over $40,000 (around $2000 per year), which goes towards classroom resources. It is easy to join either using a phone and downloading the Ritchies Card App from the App store or Google Play, or by going online to www.ritchies.com.au/loyalty using a tablet or desk top computer. You can then pick up a physical card available from the friendly cashiers in-store, which you then link to your app or online account. Once you have set up your account you can then nominate our organisation.
COVID Update
The lockdown brings with it extra safety measures for the school:
Parents and carers are asked to please ring before coming into the school.
Keep children home from school if they are sick.
We will continue with best hygienie practices here at school.
Camperdown Kinder Enrolments open
Enrolments for 2022 are now open for the Camperdown Kindergarten, please contact the kinder on 55931936 for further information.
2022 Intentions
It is getting to that time of year when we turn an eye towards 2022. If you know that you will not be returning to St Patrick's next year, it is important that we know so we can make more accurate decisions moving forward. I therefore ask that if you are moving on, can you let us know as soon as you can. Similarly if you know of anyone who would like to attend St Patrick's next year can you ask them to make contact with me as soon as they can so we can begin any transition processes we need to.
MRC Canteen going online
Over the coming weeks, the MRC canteen will be offering the option of pre-booking lunch orders and paying by credit card. Hopefully this will make it easier for families.
They will still be taking cash, however offering the online option as well.
I will let you know when this goes live.
In the meantime the canteen is in full operation during the lock down and is avaialble to order lunches.
The Great Book Swap
St Patrick’s School Camperdown is excited to participate in the 2021 Great Book Swap to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We see this event as an important addition to our social justice program in providing equity of opportunity for all.
The indigenous Literacy Foundation hopes to raise $350,000 to gift over 35,000 culturally relevant books to children living in remote communities in 2021.
To be a part of this we are asking families to donate favourite books in good condition. These books will be sold at our Great Book Swap during Book Week activities in late August (date to be confirmed). On that day children will bring gold coins to purchase other books to take home. The funds collected on the day will be forwarded to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The fundraising page also allows anyone to make an online donation to St Pats Great Book Swap. Follow this link to donate or find out more about the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

What to do -
- check your book shelves at home for children's books that are in good condition but are no longer being read.
- Bring these books to school prior to August 25th.
- Send a gold coin donation with your child(ren) on Book Week activity day (date tbc) so they can purchase some ‘new’ books to read.
Winter Sport
The Division winter sport games for our netball, football and mixed netball teams has been postponed until further notice.
Congratulations to everyone on an outstanding effort last Tuesday. Not only were lots of great skills shown, but the children showed exemplary sportsmanship.

School news
Last week we had Jordan Beard, Katerina Dombrovskaya & Hope Kerr all do work experience at St Pat's. We hope these former students enjoyed their time here at school once again. They were certainly a great help and we wish them well as they continue their education and begin looking seriously into what the work force holds for them.
Directors Visit
This Wednesday, 21st of July, our new director, Mr Tom Sexton will be hopefully be visiting St Patrick's as a part of his rolling visits around the diocese. He will also be signing off on our recent review, as well as talking about future projects here at St Patrick's. We look forward to welcoming him to our school.
RE Closure Day
There will be no school for children on Monday 16th of August as St Patrick's, St Thomas' & St Colmans are involved in a teacher RE professional development day.
CSEF applications
The Camp Sports and Excursion Fund is still available for families to claim, if you have a current health care card please contact the office. This fund pays $125 per child towards the cost of excursions and camps.
School Wide Positive Behaviours Systems (SWPBS)
Our focus for the next few weeks is Manners
Some of the things we will be targeting: Say excuse me for interruptions, please & thank-you, waiting turns, allowing others to pass, responding appropriately to adult request, greeting people. Lisa & Leah will be making up some little videos as buddy classes and get it out to the other teachers for them to show the behaviour we are looking for.
Parents can support us by ensuring these manners are also used at home.
2022 Kinder Visit & Banana Splits visit
Term 3 Visits
The Kinder children were here at school last Thursday 15th and did some literacy, maths & music activities.
They will be here again on Thursday 29th July from 9.30-11.00 to do some PE, art & science activities as well. All children from other local kinders are invited on these days as well.
Mr Saunders will be visiting the Timboon, Simpson, Cobden & Western Plains kinders this Thursday the 22nd to touch base with some of our potential students at these venues.
This is always an exciting time as children and families begin thinking about which school they will be attending in 2022.
A reminder that enrolment forms are due in by the end of July, so if you haven't got yours in can you please see to this.
Grade 6 Trivia Night
The annual grade 6 trivia night has been set for Friday 27th of August, 6.30pm -9.30pm. This night traditionally has families booking teams to vie for the title of trivia kings & queens of St Patrick's for the next 12 months.
Teams of up to 8 or so can be booked by letting Deb or Bec know at the office.
The night consists of 6 rounds of questions with some entertaining games in between.
Teams bring along their own drinks & nibbles and it costs $10 per person to enter.
More information as we get closer to the night.
This has always been one of the best social nights the school runs for the year and is full of fun, laughs and quality time spent with family & friends.
All money raised goes towards assisting the grade 6 camp fund and is designed to subsidise $200 per child towards the camp. It is a truly worthy cause.
Please consider booking a spot at this event.
